Logistics Continues Improvement Manager

This is a key new position responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continues improvement initiative across multi-jurisdictions.  It will play an important role in The Shipping Department to help to foster a culture of sustainable changes through the creation and embedding of LEAN mythology, and the supporting framework, to deliver business transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for all shipments of products to customers via truck loads or vans. This position is responsible for the accuracy of all shipments and for meeting all shipping deadlines and requirements. Facilitate team decisions, resolve team conflict, closely work with General Manager on the development of implementation action plans, and conduct follow-up.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior management to assure appropriate participation and supports understanding of overall process improvement direction.
  • Implement and manage materials, methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management.
  • Lead and facilitate LEAN/ Process improvement based workshops to drive ideas and solutions
  • Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working  
  • Provides follow-up to monitor the progress of improvement and implementation, assure timely action, understanding situation development solutions consistent with business strategies
  • Provide leadership by mentoring associates in the use of Lean tools, ensuring transfer of knowledge and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of logistics procedures
  • Able to  apply Lean concepts and tools (5S, value stream mapping, visual workplace, etc.)
  • Able to lead/facilitate kaizen events.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft excel
  • Possesses the influencing skills necessary to motivate up, across and down the organization

Other Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills or able to manage priorities and meet expected internal and external timelines 
  •  Preferred Knowledge of AS400 – easy to learn our home built program – we will train

Environmental Requirements:

This job operates in a Warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to lift, push up to (51) pounds, stand, talk.
